A man and a woman have died after being pulled from the water unconscious on the Central Coast on Wednesday.
Emergency services were called to Frazer Beach in the Munmorah State Conservation Area about 4.20 pm following reports two people were pulled from the surf unresponsive.
Bystanders performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but they could not be revived.
NSW Police said although the pair are yet to be formally identified, both are believed to be aged in their 40s.
Officers from the Tuggerah Police District are investigating the incident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
There have been 20 drownings along the notorious three-kilometre stretch of coastline south of Catherine Hill Bay since 2010.
