A nasal version of the Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine has failed in an early-stage trial, dealing a blow to hopes for a more effective way to prevent transmission of the virus.Oxford university said on Tuesday a nasal formulation of the vaccine elicited mucosal antibody responses in a “minority of participants” and systemic immune responses were also weaker compared with intramuscular vaccination. The setback highlights the complexity of designing a nasal formulation against coronavirus, which spreads through tiny particles in the air. Researchers have posited that targeting the airways could effectively prevent transmission of the disease. Currently available vaccines, delivered as intramuscular…

Around 30,000 non-U.S. citizens living in Colorado were mistakenly sent postcards late last month encouraging them to register to vote.Democratic Secretary of State Jena Griswold’s office said the postcards were mistakenly mailed on Sept. 27 after department employees compared a list of names of 102,000 people provided by the Electronic Registration Information Center to a database of Colorado residents issued driver’s licenses. That Department of Revenue driver’s license list includes residents issued special licenses for people who are not U.S. citizens. But it didn’t include formatting information that normally would have allowed the Department of State to eliminate those names…

CNN  —  The last week of Herschel Walker’s Senate campaign – beset by a report that he paid for a woman he was dating to have an abortion more than a decade ago – has been an utter disaster. And it’s been made worse by the fact that smart Republican strategists have known for the better part of a year that Walker was a) deeply untested and b) deeply unpredictable as a candidate. More than a year ago, in response to an Associated Press story detailing Walker’s turbulent past – including reportedly threatening his ex-wife and exaggerating his business successes…

Biden is currently promising to protect abortion rights. Rather, it was Donald Trump, the twice-divorced reality TV star whose overriding faith is that some people would follow him even if he committed murder, who found himself as the President with three Supreme Court nominees in…
