Oh no, the madness has mutated. Perhaps, like you, that was my reaction to the first, jarring images emerging from Brasilia on Sunday after a swarm of crazed conspiracy theorists who support the defeated ex-president, Jair Bolsonaro, breached the three pillars of Brazilian democracy with such infuriating ease. The destruction and violence exacted by the marauders – clad in the South American country’s familiar colours of yellow, green and blue – on the offices of the president, Supreme Court and Congress were, of course, reminiscent of the mayhem and carnage of January 6, 2021, on the US Capitol. It was…

Billionaire hedge fund manager Paul Tudor Jones believes there’s a huge demand for U.S. stocks this year coming primarily from two sources that could power the market through the most challenging economic environment in 40 years. “You’ve probably got something just under a trillion dollars of excess demand in U.S. stocks,” Jones said Tuesday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” “Where is the selling going to come to offset that that demands coming from buybacks, from the corporate line items, from some combination of buybacks and M & A? That’s a significant amount. Ceteris paribus, everything being the same, the stock market…

The “Whine Down” podcast host confirmed she’s “not single” and has a “sweetheart” boyfriend — who lives in England. “I don’t know if this is my forever person. … But, like, I’m not going to push away love just because I’ve been hurt before. I’m going to embrace it,” Kramer, 39, said on the Monday, January 9, episode of her show, revealing he’s from Scotland but works in England. “I’m going to have fun. And if it doesn’t work out, well, you know…
Many workers and managers in the United States and the United Kingdom place a higher value on trust in the workplace over financial compensation, according to new research released Tuesday. A survey of 500 workers and managers in the U.S. and U.K. conducted by Osterman Research for cybersecurity firm Cerby found that nearly half of the participants (47%) said they’d take a 20% pay cut in return for higher trust by their employer. Other characteristics researchers found highly prized by employees included flexibility (48%), autonomy (42%), and being able to choose the applications they need to work effectively (39%). The…
Administrators met her sexual harassment complaints with “continued indifference,” the complaint says. After Riley reported that a classmate had called her a “big, fat, ugly slut,” the school’s principal told Riley that “sometimes the truth hurts,” according to the complaint. And when Riley reported the ongoing harassment to a school counselor, she told Riley, “‘We knew this was going to happen’ because of the sexually explicit video” and did not help her, the complaint says.“I think this situation is a perfect example of why schools have Title IX obligations,” said Chloe Neely, the lawyer representing Riley in her Title IX…
Crypto companies that keep their faith in the sector, and that are able to harness the value of traditional risk management and compliance, will survive the crypto winter, one leading financial services lawyer has argued.Writing in an opinion piece for The Hill, Thomas P.
