Shannon Sharpe has started to lose his patience. Sharpe and Skip Bayless were embroiled in a Tom Brady debate, as is the case on many Mondays on FS1’s “Undisputed,” when Sharpe took exception to a comparison Bayless made about Sharpe and Brady. “This man is playing at a high level at 45 when you had to stop at 35,” Bayless said. “That’s what you do,” Sharpe griped in response. “Every time I call something into question, I get it … I did what I did! You make it seem like I was a bum! I’m in the effin’ Hall of…

Ronnie O’Sullivan was made to dig in to claim a 4-3 victory over Ben Mertens to book his place in the second round of the English Open. The only possible concern was fear of the unknown for O’Sullivan, having never played Mertens before, and he was given a serious test before setting up a clash with Dechawat Poomjaeng in round two. There have been some mixed performances from O’Sullivan in the current season, despite having two titles to his name at the Champion of Champions and Hong Kong Masters, and it was a similar scenario as he got over the line despite…

Arcadia, Florida CNN  —  Their busy, buzzing business partners pollinate everything from almonds in California to blueberries in Maine, so few people understand the state of American agriculture quite like Florida beekeepers. But colliding climate crises have left few as sad and worried. The storms and droughts of ’22 had already taken their toll on crop yields and a drying Mississippi was clogging harvest shipments when Hurricane Ian blasted into the nation’s apiary epicenter in central Florida. The storm drowned or crushed hundreds of thousands of hives, killing bees by the hundreds of millions – and those that survived are…

The FBI on Monday released a hate crimes report for 2021 that it admits is incomplete and which, critics say, vastly undercounts bigotry-based attacks on Blacks, Jews, Asians and members of the LGBTQ community. Even so, the 7,262 hate crime incidents tallied in the report is the third-highest number reported in a decade and just a thousand shy of the 8,263 incidents recorded in 2020, according to bureau statistics.Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta said the reason for the apparent undercount is that the FBI has implemented a new procedure for police departments to report crimes of all kinds to it called…

Twitter on Monday relaunched an option for users who pay for its subscription service to receive a coveted “blue check,” one month after the company was forced to pull the feature amid a wave of “verified” accounts pretending to be brands and high-profile users. The updated verification system, which expands on check mark options with multiple new colors, is part of new owner Elon Musk’s effort to grow its subscription business and bolster the bottom line of the company he bought for $44 billion, including a substantial amount of debt financing. The new Twitter Blue subscription service will cost $8…

The Senate is rushing to avert a government shutdown set for Friday by passing a short-term funding bill for one week. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Monday on the Senate floor that the extension would give bipartisan lawmakers more time to strike a year-long budget deal. “The benefits of an omnibus are as many as there are citizens in America,” said Schumer. While both Democrats and Republicans agree a short-term spending bill is needed to prevent a shutdown on Dec. 16, significant obstacles remain. Both Republicans and Democrats are pushing their own priorities ahead of the new Congress taking office in…

Stepping into Rome’s Garbatella district is almost like stepping back in time. The architecture and the buildings are more or less unchanged from 1920 when the neighbourhood sprung out to house workers who came to the Italian capital for jobs in the nearby industrial Ostiense area. And, more than a century later, it also remains a left-wing stronghold.Yet one of its most famous former residents is far-right Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.Meloni was born in a posh residential neighbourhood but moved to Garbatella with her mother and sister in order to be close to her grandparents after her father abandoned the family. In her…
