City Comptroller Brad Lander is cheerleading a new bill that would prohibit Big Apple businesses from firing employees without just cause – but critics say he doesn’t practice what he preaches. In a series of social media posts this week, the far-lefty pol boasted he’s working with Democratic Socialists of America-backed Queens Councilwoman Tiffany Caban to promote legislation that would legally protect workers from losing their jobs unless their bosses can demonstrate economic hardship or unsatisfactory work performance. Caban’s bill, introduced Wednesday, dramatically expands on laws approved last year – and spearheaded by Lander when he was then a Brooklyn councilman –…

The family of the man killed by Tracy McCarter says they feel betrayed by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s move to dismiss the murder case and are demanding he brings new charges against her. McCarter’s case was championed by domestic violence advocates after she claimed her March 2, 2020 stabbing of her husband James Murray was self-defense and that she was a victim of abuse from an alcoholic spouse. On Dec. 2, Bragg won his bid to drop murder charges against the nurse, prompting James’ brother Steven to write to the DA Wednesday. “Your actions to date and refusal to…

Buenos Aires, Argentina – Under a blue and white banner that read “No Player Is As Good As All Of Us Together”, a trio of teenage boys did pirouettes with a football. The action in Buenos Aires comes as Argentina’s national football side prepares for its World Cup quarter-final match against the Netherlands on Friday in Qatar. It’s a face-off between two great football…

Connor Bedard’s highlight reel has been hard to miss. Already the presumptive first overall selection at the 2023 NHL draft, the 17-year-old phenom with a bullet shot and an ability to make the puck look like it’s on a string — often leaving defenders chasing shadows and goaltenders looking foolish — has taken his game to new heights this season.Video of his jaw-dropping skill splashes across social media on what feels like a near-daily basis. And there’s almost certainly going to be more viral clips when Bedard takes centre stage with Canada at the 2023 world junior hockey championship later…

Mayor Eric Adams slammed a recent judicial decision that put a Manhattan man busted for a brutal caught-on-camera bat attack back on the street so quickly as the latest example of America’s legal system failing. “Every time we do our job as law enforcement in the city [as] administrators, we are seeing this revolving door – a catch, release, repeat system that is really playing out all across the country,” Adams told CNN’s Michael Smerconish on Saturday. Karim Azizi, 36, is accused of pulling a bat from his pants and swinging it at a 47-year-old man, who is homeless, sending the victim…
