Senior lecturer for politics at Monash University Dr Zareh Ghazarian says former prime minister Scott Morrison’s secret ministry went against the “spirit of the Australian political system”. “That was to have open, transparent, responsibility when it came to ministerial portfolios,” he told Sky News Australia. “And what we learnt is that there are ways in which leaders can go around those rules.” Source: Sky News
A.J. Brown isn’t the one who secured Brian Daboll a national championship ring. If the Giants need any reminders that the Eagles have more than one game-changing receiver, their head coach can show the film of his most memorable play call as an offensive coordinator. In his one year at Alabama, Daboll called “four verticals” on a second-and-26 and a streaking DeVonta Smith caught a 41-yard walk-off touchdown pass in an overtime win against Georgia in the College Football Playoff. So, the Giants are aware of the pick-your-poison conundrum presented by a wide receiver corps led by Brown and Smith. …
Senior lecturer for politics at Monash University Dr Zareh Ghazarian says he suspects Labor’s energy relief plan is going to be used as a “springboard” by the Albanese government moving forward. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced a suite of measures to address rising power bills, which were agreed upon at National Cabinet, and parliament will be recalled to pass the legislation. “I suspect this is going to be used as a springboard by this government moving forward to demonstrate that they can actually tackle these sorts of pressures head-on,” Dr Ghazarian told Sky News Australia. CNN — College football fans and HBCU alumni are still coming to terms with Deion Sanders announcing his departure from Jackson State University for his new head coaching gig at the University of Colorado. The move struck a chord, especially among alumni of the Mississippi college, with some calling Sanders a “sell out” for leaving the historically Black JSU for the predominantly white CU. Others are angry about him selling the dream of changing the athletic culture at historically Black colleges and universities, or HBCUs, across the US and leaving after only three years. While some were hopeful about everything…
The marketing dream of a Messi v Ronaldo World Cup final is still alive, at least for the next few hours. Friday’s truly remarkable evening of football ended with Argentina edging out the Netherlands to reach the semi-final where they will face Croatia, who earlier in the day had ousted tournament favourites Brazil. Both games went to penalties. Today Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal will seek to join them as they face the World Cup’s surprise package: Morocco. And England take on France: Mbappé takes on Walker. Deschamps takes on Southgate. It promises to be another dramatic day. Before we begin, do…
