The Kansas City Royals have made a hire. Kansas City announced Sunday that they’ve hired Matt Quatraro as their 18th full-time manager in franchise history. Quatraro, 48, has previously been the assistant hitting coach for the then-Cleveland Indians and was hired to be the Rays’ third base coach after the 2017 season before being promoted to bench coach after the 2018 season. Quatraro will be inheriting a team that went 65-97 in 2022 and hasn’t made the playoffs since winning the World Series in 2015. Stock futures were flat on Sunday evening ahead of the final day of October, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average poised to clinch its best month in decades.Dow futures ticked down 3 points, or less than 0.1%. Three children and one adult died in a house fire on Sunday morning in the Castle Hill neighborhood of the Bronx, according to the FDNY. The fire broke out on the first and second floors of the three-story building around 6:00 a.m. Two children were pronounced dead at the scene, while one child and an adult succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital later on Sunday morning. A Yonkers police sergeant who did little to stop two men from pummeling a victim as he slumped to the ground has been placed on modified duty, the city’s police force revealed Sunday.
