So how do we keep the lights on? We carry advertising, and we may run affiliate campaigns with a small, pre-vetted group of vendors. We’ll be candid: an article that carries an affiliate link can be commercially led. But our aim is always rich, informative, genuinely useful journalism — and that aim will always prevail. Indeed, we treat it as an opportunity rather than a compromise. Those affiliates pay us a commission at varying rates, and we deliberately seek no other form of monetisation. That single, simple model is what keeps this site open, free and unpaywalled — without long cookie-management forms.
