Matthew Arnold, 26, and Rachel McCrow, 29, along with two colleagues were sent to a property in Wieambilla, about four hours north-west of Brisbane, on Monday about 4:30pm in relation to a New South Wales missing person’s case.
The police officers were ambushed as they made their way up the driveway and came under fire from two heavily armed offenders, reportedly dressed in camouflage.
Two other constables who arrived at the scene with Matthew and Rachel miraculously survived the attack.

Constable Keely Brough, 28, fled and hid in the farmland’s long grass, while her colleague Randall Kirk, also 28, suffered a gunshot graze and raised the alarm.
A brave local sergeant responded and rallied a team of 15 police to go in under heavy fire to rescue the constable hiding and to retreat the bodies of the slain officers.
The gunmen then fled the scene with another woman, believed to be a partner, before all three were later killed in a shootout with tactical officers about 10:30pm on Monday.
