Environmental non-governmental organisation Greenpeace recently found that while coal investment in the Guangdong province has dropped, investment in fossil fuel projects has risen by a fifth.  This is despite places like Guangdong being an economic powerhouse, which should mean the availability of more resources to innovate and experiment with transitioning to a cleaner energy system, said Ms Qiu Chengcheng, a climate and energy campaigner with Greenpeace East Asia. She added it seems Guangdong is looking to fossil gas as a “late-stage transition fuel”, as it wants to ensure its energy security even as it has pledged to cut coal. “It…

Jurors began their deliberations Wednesday morning, later asking for a readback of two multiple-day testimonies. Shortly after 5 p.m., the jury requested to see the AR-15 Nikolas Cruz, now 24, used during the shooting. Broward Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer said she planned to send the firearm back to the jury, but was unable to because of “security reasons.” The Broward County Sheriff’s…

Giving Us deja vu! Joshua Bassett had jokes when he took to social media to seemingly poke fun at his breakup with his High School Musical: The Musical: The Series costar Olivia Rodrigo. “First letter is the love of my life,” Bassett, 21, said in a TikTok video on Tuesday, October 10, before tapping the screen to reveal a pink letter “O.” After a brief — but poignant — pause, the “Lifeline” singer tried again. “Second letter is the love of my life,” he quipped before “Q” appeared on over his head. “OK, Q. I’ll take it,” he quipped, breathing a sigh of…

The Dodgers and Padres were in a key part of their Game 2 NLDS battle on Wednesday night, won 5-3 by San Diego, but it didn’t stop a goose from relaxing at Dodger Stadium. With San Diego clinging to a two-run lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, a goose made its way onto the field and just set up camp in shallow right-center field. Play continued with the goose on the field until the Padres called on closer Josh Hader to get the final out in the inning. During that time, the goose was escorted, er taken, off…

As the father-daughter duo settle into their new lives, the pair realize they’re sharing their space with four ghosts —  Casper (voiced by Malachi Pearson and played in his human form by Devon Sawa) and…

Atlanta Braves All-Star Austin Riley is known mostly for his bat, but he flashed his leather in a big way during Game 2 of the NLDS that left the Philadelphia Phillies speechless. In the top of the eighth inning, Phillies’ Bryson Stott skied a fly ball in foul territory down the third baseline that was looking to just be a strike. But Riley got on his horse, sprinting down the line and tracking the ball the entire way. There was the Truist Park tarp leaning against the wall holding the large net to protect fans and Riley was heading right to it. …

For many students, the floods have disrupted their education. At a makeshift school set up under tarp sheets near Malook Khaskheli, schoolteachers said that about half of the batch of 63 students aged five to 12 are still attending classes, while the rest had moved away. Two months ago, the college building was converted into temporary housing. Mr Ali Khan has not been able to attend classes since then. He is among 400…
