Most of the UK will experience windy and rainy conditions, but a smattering of the white stuff is likely in northern ScotlandSnow could fall in days as an Arctic blast brings wind, rain and freezing temperatures to the UK in a new cold snap. Weather maps from WXCharts show that flurries of snow are likely to fall early on Saturday morning across the Scottish Highlands between Fort William and Inverness. However, for most of the UK, this week will bring a week of unsettled weather, with winds and rain dominating the forecasts. But fear not as the sun is likely…
The Blue Angels’ scheduled show in San Francisco, California, for Fleet Week was canceled Sunday due to weather conditions, and a Democrat city council member suggested the planes not be permitted in the city’s skies.District 5 Supervisor Dean Preston, a self-described Democratic socialist, said the planes should be banned from the city’s airspace.”The Blue Angels should not be allowed to fly over San Francisco,” he wrote on Twitter. “That’s it. That’s the tweet.” Preston did not elaborate further on why he decided to take issue with the U.S. Navy’s fighter jet demonstration squadron and his office did not immediately respond…
One thing to start: Asset managers are under scrutiny on two continents for their power and importance as well as concerns about the products they sell. Just like bankers following the financial crisis, and the complex financial products (think CDOs, CLOs and MBSs) they cooked up, once again the focus is on an alphabet soup of acronyms, in particular ESG and LDI. Are asset managers the new bankers? CNN — Former Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant has again been subpoenaed amid an ongoing civil suit in a multimillion-dollar welfare fraud scandal, and this time attorneys want to see communications between the ex-governor and former NFL and Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre. Attorneys for one of the defendants in the state of Mississippi’s suit issued the subpoena Friday, asking for several years’ worth of additional documents and communications between Bryant and Favre, as well as others connected to the case that auditors say resulted in at least $77 million in federal welfare dollars being misspent. Back in June, Jets coach Robert Saleh said that quarterback Zach Wilson “doesn’t need to be Tom Brady this year.” On Sunday, Wilson wasn’t Brady and he was just enough for the Jets to win. This was the type of game Saleh had in mind when he made the Brady comment. The Jets don’t want Wilson to try to do too much. On Sunday, Wilson completed 14 of 21 passing for 210 yards and had one rushing touchdown. Most importantly, he did not turn the ball over in a 40-17 win over the Dolphins at MetLife Stadium. “I thought he…
Bristol, Pennsylvania CNN — A white knuckle midterm election is racing into its last four weeks with the Senate on a knife-edge and with a strong prospect of a Donald Trump-aligned Republican majority in the House. Democrats are fighting to stave off the first term-curse that usually punishes a president in congressional elections. They are highlighting issues like abortion and the GOP’s extreme turn while on defense over the raging inflation and rising gas prices that are haunting Joe Biden’s administration. But this is a midterm election like no other it since it’s taking place under the shadow of a…
