Sky News host Peta Credlin says she does not believe taxes should go up – nor should already legislated tax cuts be cancelled.
“For now, the government has backed off reneging on its commitment to keep the Morrison government’s stage three tax cuts – but don’t think this is a change of heart,” she said.
Ms Credlin said the Albanese government’s apparent change of heart about keeping the cuts is “just a postponement”.
“The PM said all weekend that his view hasn’t changed, the tax cuts will be there but he has not ruled out change in the future – now, believe me this is pollie speak 101,” she said.
“The second reason why it’s a postponement, is that deep down, Labor wants more of your money, not less.
“Labor always sees tax cuts as a ‘gift for the rich’ rather than an incentive for people to work harder and get ahead.”
Ms Credlin said in the budget which will be presented in two weeks, the tax cuts will be present.
“But when they actually fall due, in two years’ time, don’t count on actually getting them because by then, I reckon, they’ll be long gone,” she said.
