Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says from tonight, three helicopters will be on standby to conduct night search and rescues in New South Wales.
Mr Albanese also announced an additional 150 Australian Defence Force personnel will be on the ground to help victims of the floods.
“100 of them in northern New South Wales and 50 on standby in the Hunter,” Mr Albanese said.
The Prime Minister said the federal government will continue to work with the states and territories and stand ready to support Australians who are “suffering the most” during the floods.
“From next week, additional help will be available for Tasmanian small business and producers,” Mr Albanese said.
