A suspended 10-point deduction which “may be triggered” for each instance of “serious supporter misconduct” will be introduced in the wake of pitch invader scenes at an A-League match, according to Football Australia CEO James Johnson.
Mr Johnson has fronted a media conference to publicly declare the future ramifications for riotous supporters.
He said the sanctions are in effect for the remainder of the current A-League season and “also for the following three A-League men’s seasons”.
“This sanction will not conclude until the 2025/26 A-League men’s season concludes,” he said.
“Football Australia has also determined, with competition integrity at the heart of our decision making, that the 2022/23 A-League men round of eight match between Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory that was abandoned will be replayed in April 2023.
“The match will be replayed from the 22nd minute, and it will start with a score line being 1-0 to Melbourne City.”
