When a brand doesn’t carry a shoe in your size, you usually leave the store with your disappointment and a conciliatory second-choice. Not so for actor Jenna Ortega. “These shoes, actually, I really wanted to wear,” Ortega tells Vogue in a video diary while getting ready for the Valentino spring 2023 show in Paris on Sunday. Picking up a pair of Valentino’s signature Tan-Go platform pumps in black, Ortega reveals what being a friend of designer Pierpaolo Piccioli and a darling of the Italian fashion house can get you. “Valentino actually custom made these shoes so that they fit my foot because I have very small feet,” she says.
Ortega, who first made a splash as young Jane on CW’s Jane the Virgin, now has fans eagerly awaiting Wednesday, the Addams Family remake coming to Netflix in November. To attend the spring show, Ortega chose a sheer, black lace dress styled with black, high cut undergarments (paired with the pumps, of course), eschewing the signature Valentino pink in favor of a look that one could imagine Wednesday Addams herself would approve of. The outfit was “see through, so it’s a bit different than something I would typically wear,” Ortega tells us as she put the finishing touches on her look—a delicate diamond necklace, fresh-faced makeup, and loose waves in her hair.
But would Wednesday Addams approve of Ortega’s second look of the evening, worn to dinner with Piccioli? Watch and decide for yourself.
