Detectives from City of London Police have arrested a 25-year-old man after a daylight triple stabbing earlier this month where three people were allegedly knifed as they stepped in to help
Detectives investigating an alleged attempted robbery and triple stabbing on the streets of London after three ‘have-a-go heroes’ stepped have made an arrest.
The three people were allegedly slashed as they stepped in to take on a pair of masked thugs on bikes who witnesses claim had tried to snatch a phone.
The police were called to reports of three stabbings at around 9.45am after the two-minute brawl – just yards from a City of London Police station – in Bishopsgate last Thursday.
Following investigations, the force has today confirmed an arrest has been made in connection to the earlier incident.
T/DCI Colin Bishop, of the City of London Police Major Crime Team, said: “Detectives who are investigating a number of serious offences connected with the attempted robbery and knife attack on Bishopsgate last Thursday (6 October 2022) have arrested a 25-year-old man in Islington this morning.
“He was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery, grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.
“He remains in police custody.”
Images showed blood splattered on pavements outside a glass office building – which was placed under lockdown along with several others nearby.
A delivery driver who witnessed the incident claimed: “The attackers tried to steal someone’s phone.
“Then three pedestrians and one guy on a motorbike came to help and they got attacked.”
Police arrived at the scene within five minutes and were seeking two suspects in relation to the attacks and attempted robberies.
The three victims were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated as the Major Crime Team launched an investigation.
A spokesman for City of London Police added: “Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses with information to assist with the investigation.

Chief Supt Steve Heatley, of City of London Police, earlier confirmed: “Three victims were taken by London Ambulance Service to a nearby hospital to be treated.
“They do not have life-threatening injuries.”
